PROFILE

Murmaid is a multidisciplinary design studio based in Paris. The designers focus on a collaborative and sustainable approach to fashion design and art. With emphasis on textile art and upcycling, their Atelier is formed by young co-creatives of different multicultural backgrounds. In times where we started getting used to uncertain days, they focus is the future. A conversation, spirit and energy that keeps on changing and being challenged by collective creativity, intercultural mindfulness, upcycling and even restrictions. Their universe exists outside of fashion norms and ideals, they create the future through sustainability and rejection to the current state of the industry. They are inspired by their current world and society and the one in their dreams. Always altering and keeping up with an unstable present that teaches them the power of resilience, collectiveness and purpose. They are touched and driven by humanity and its faults. It is their responsibility to approach design with conscious responsibility for their environment and society. The future. The future of fashion is abstract and uncertain, and within questioning and challenging its shape, they find beauty. Their Atelier is a glitch in the fashion system, it was founded on the basis of rejecting a current system and creating a more sustainable future. They direct themselves collectively, with emphasis on social responsibility and ecological sustainability.
